Feeling Betrayed By Your Body in Perimenopause? This is a Huge Revelation.

Perimenopause ushers in a time of profound transition in a woman's life, a reverse-adolescence that brings with it surprising changes and health issues. Many of these issues involve body systems located in the chest or torso. Bras and shapewear can impact our health, wellbeing, and self-esteem in ways most of us don't realize. In this new podcast series, I talk turkey -- just in time for long Thanksgiving road trips -- with Dr. LaKeischa McMillan, M.D., an ob-gyn physician, hormone specialist, and host of the "Hormone Hottie Hotline,"

Excerpted from Episode 24, Part 3 of a 4-part podcast series.

I recently had the privilege of sitting down for a heart-to-heart conversation with Dr. LaKeischa McMillan, M.D. as a guest on her podcast.

An ob-gyn physician, hormone specialist, and host of the "Hormone Hottie Hotline," Dr. LaKeischa is an in-demand speaker and expert who breaks down the hormonal changes we experience and how they affect us -- particularly in periods of change, like perimenopause. She always keeps it real, fun, and empowering.

In this podcast conversation, Dr. LaKeischa and I went deep. In her words, she "geeked out" on the rarely-acknowledged medical science we got into.

“When your hormones change, your breasts change, too. And when your bras are too tight, that’s not just uncomfortable, it’s unhealthy." -- Dr. LaKeischa McMillan, M.D.

Dr LaKeischa and I explored several surprising mental and physical health issues that many women suffer and never suspect are related to their bras.

We uncovered so much juicy conversation that a one-podcast interview turned into a four-part series!

In Part 1 and Part 2, we talked about midlife discoveries and midlife missions, where Dr. LaKeischa also schooled me on internal anatomy, revealing how bras affect the natural functioning of critical organs and systems in our chest and torso.

We talk about intuition and the journey of discovery and healing that comes when you actually (really) listen to your body (and intuition) and invest in your health. And we discuss how Embrago's core collection acts as both practical wardrobe and health intervention for improved wellness and wellbeing.

In Part 3 and Part 4, we cover how you can stop sacrificing your health and take back your power and body autonomy. We even share some personal stories of what this can look like, getting vulnerable as we discuss the discouragement we both felt when we discovered we had the dreaded shoulder grooves caused by prolonged exposure to digging bra straps.

And that's where things get really interesting. I share what I learned through my shoulder groove discovery, what happened next, and why it truly shocked me. It was a plot twist I never saw coming, one that changed my future in a most surprising and delightful way.

If you only have time for the highlights, listen to this 8-minute clip where you will discover exactly what the plot twist was. (And if you're really pressed for time, fyi the reveal happens precisely between minutes 3:00-4:00.)

The rest of this short clip is also packed with mind-blowing revelations about your own physiology that I guarantee you never thought about (and you won't be able to "unhear" once you do)!

"This is a huge revelation!" -- Dr. LaKeischa McMillan, M.D.

So many women suffer from mental and physical health issues that they never suspect involves damage being made worse by constrictive bras. As Dr. LaKeischa said,“You are not making these [symptoms] up. This is something that is truly happening, and this is a huge revelation!"

I hope you'll do yourself a favor and give yourself time to listen to the full series. You just might save yourself from a lot of suffering and discover the secret to the same happy ending I did.

Remember, as Dr. LaKeischa says, "Now there IS something else out there that we can do, so we can feel in control of our bodies again." Join women around the country who are unshackling themselves and getting happier and healthier in the process!
